What Happens when a Pump is Rebuilt

What Happens when a Pump is Rebuilt

Mar 27th 2020

Final Drive Parts doesn't just rebuild final drive motors -- we rebuild hydraulic pumps, too!

We know that final drive motors aren't the only thing that keeps your equipment moving and productive -- you also need a working hydraulic pump. That's why we also rebuild hydraulic pumps in addition to selling new ones. But what happens when a pump arrives at our facility for rebuilding?

Assessment of the Pump

Once we receive your pump, one of our certified, hydraulic technicians will disassemble it completely and start thoroughly cleaning the components. Then every part of that pump will be assessed against our strict re-usability guidelines, with parts that cannot be used (including seals and gaskets) discarded. From there, we can see what parts can be reused as is, reconditioned, or replaced.

Customized Rebuild Plan and Quote

Next, we develop a customized rebuild plan and you will be provided with a detailed estimate. Once you accept the estimate, your pump will be rebuilt according to the plan developed for it. During the rebuild process, the components that are to be reused are thoroughly cleaned. From there, certain parts will be reconditioned or retooled.

Rebuild and Testing

When the pump is finally reassembled, it will be put on a test bench and thoroughly tested with regard to performance and quality. We work hard to make these rebuilt pumps equal or exceed their original OEM specifications. The result is a pump that is as good as -- or better -- than new at a lower cost than a new pump.

Once it has passed our rigorous testing, it will be repainted and certified as rebuilt. then we will crate it and ship it back to you. And remember that it comes with a 1-year warranty!
